This has not been my first rodeo with a direct sales company. I tried two other times, and both times I was not very successful at it. Mainly because of my lack of confidence in myself and partly because I lacked support from friends and family. My own up-line didn't offer much support either unless you "got it".
What makes this time different?
Initially, I joined Usborne Books & More after attending my niece's online book party then hosting a party of my own. I was blown away by these books! They are fun, educational, award winning, and very interactive! Maybe I should say WE were blown away! My husband who has a degree in teaching could not believe what he was seeing with these books. We wanted MORE books to put on our book shelves for our grandson and any future grandchildren we may have. We also thought this would be a great way to add to our income so that we could help our children and work on projects around the house that need to have taken care of.
I hosted my launch party and the support I got from my friends and family was so encouraging! I received orders, I received bookings, and I had people getting excited over these books! This really boosted my confidence in myself. Confidence in myself has always been a struggle for me, so this was a HUGE boost for me.
Shortly after my launch party, I received my kit! OMG! These books were even more amazing than I thought! I now had non-fiction books in my hands and a wide variety of the books UBAM offers! I now saw first hand just how educational and well constructed these books are. This excited me even more...
I began doing more "research" online to share more and more about literacy in America and how important it is for us as parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, family members, etc. to instill the love of reading in the children around us. As I did my research, I realized just how important this mission is! Kids in America and around the world need these books. Kids need to have books in their homes, they need them in their hands in order to raise the literacy scores in America.
The more research I do, the more my "why" changes. Sure, having more books on my book shelf for reading with grandkids and the extra money is nice... BUT, wanting to get books in the hands of kids, wanting to help instill the love of reading by finding the perfect book for each child, knowing I am doing something to better the futures of my grandchildren, your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, students, and all children is what really excites me, what motivates me to keep pushing on and not give up.
So my why is to better the lives of all children... give them the foundation early in life to do well in school, improve their literacy scores, and give them a better chance to having a successful and rewarding life.
